Thoughts on exams – Year 7

Year 7 Exams
This week year 7 is having their yearly exams. We have already had our maths test, it was
hard and today we are having our English test. Later this week we are having
our science and PE exam. By Jack Hackett
In exams it is very hard because there is so much stuff to do and not much time to do it
in. I find them very difficult to complete, because some of the questions do
not make sense. After the really big tests you just feel so tired and empty.
All you want to do is have something to eat and have a sleep to regain your
energy. In conclusion exams are very boring, difficult and hard. By Aiden & Miles
Yearly Exams, the thing I dread the most! Everyone lining up outside the hall, you walk in,
sit down ,everyone is dead quiet. All you can hear is the clock ticking (tick,
tick, tick). When it’s time to star everyone rushes to turn the page then you get the first questions and then the next
one and the one after that. After a few pages your mind goes dizzy, you get a
brain block and I can’t think. Then you hear a teacher say, “stop pens down.” Everyone
stops. I think wow I hope I did well. By Breanna Gollan y7
So far we have done one yearly exam (the maths one) and today we have our English. The
exams are all held in the hall and go for one hour. We have exams in Maths,
English, Science and PDHPE. All of year 7 is seated in the hall and there is no
talking, which makes me nervous. By Leah
Exams are different to everyone. Some people might think it’s the end of the world, some
people love exams and some people don’t care. From my point of view it depends
on the subjects. If it maths it’s okay, but with English I’m not so sure. When
you’re about to do the exam you’re nervous but once it’s over you forget about
being nervous. Sometimes you want to get good grades to go in a higher class
next year. By Tristan Wright
Exams are very nerve racking, but it’s a great relief when you have completed and you
know you have tried your hardest. You have to make sure you are very organised
when you have an exam coming up. It is important to have all the right
equipment. When you walk into the hall you have to be very quiet and you can’t
speak until the paper is off your desk. You have to stay under exam conditions
at all times. Exams are not something that we enjoy. However, it is great to
get the results back and see how well you went. By Courtney & Sheridan
Exams are nerve racking and a lot different to primary school. They have lots of
different questions and some of them are hard. I really hope I get a good
score, however they don’t give you enough time. I didn’t finish it, but the
teacher said a lot of people don’t so I shouldn’t worry. The teachers are all
very helpful when it comes to exam time. They are helpful with some of the
questions that you might have trouble with. By Caylene and Caitlyn 7EN3
Yearly Exams are a bit frightening, but as long as I remember what I’ve been taught I’ll be
fine. I find them hard to do sometimes and they are very different from primary
school. The yearlies are much harder than I expected. The half yearlies were
quite simple, but know I won’t get as many marks this time. We had Maths
yesterday, which was Monday. We have English tomorrow, Science on Thursday and P.D on Friday. The rest of them we
either have in class or not at all. By Bradley Gallop
Exams are different than primary, because in the exams at high school you have to be very
silent. The setting out of the hall is different, because you all sit a one
table and not at groups. The half yearlies were easy, so the yearlies won’t be
as hard. By Tom and Matt
Most people get nervous before the exam. I get nervous when I arrive in the exam room.
Exams are hard, but I guess it determines what classes we are going to be in
next year. I hope I get in good classes. The exams are hard but they are part
of school life. The maths exam was harder than I thought. However, most of it
was on things we have done throughout the year, so I kind of knew what I was
doing. By Joanne and Emma
What it’s like to do exams? It was exciting but terrifying at the same time (we found out
quickly). We hope that we do well in the rest of the exams that we have. This
will let us be in a good class next year. We wish the exams didn’t go for so
long, as it is very boring waiting for everyone to finish. By Aliah and Clarissa
To go into massive hall filled with all the year sevens. It’s actually not that scary. The
scariest part is remembering everything you’ve been studying, to work up to
this very test. But also what the markers are going to think. If it was too
detailed or not detailed enough, if 1+1 really does equal window. It’s scary,
but it’ll be over soon…hopefully. By Chloe Yr7
Year Seven Updates – Term 3
September 20th, 2011 by ahsb · No Comments · Uncategorized
High School has changed so much since the first term. We are now close to finishing term 3 and I have achieved so much! I have done things I never thought I could never do like come 2nd in a huge writing competition. I enjoy being here with all my friends and learning a lot. Although a lot has changed I think it has changed in a good way. I feel more mature and responsible. Caitlyn Thomas 7EN3
At high school I’m now really organised, I just got a new desk this weekend and I’m enjoying having my own proper work area. I’ve made really close friends like Joanne, Emma, Leah, Caylene and Trisha. I’m looking forward to the holidays, and spending time at home, with my friends and at the beach. However, I’m really nervous about yearly’s next term. But so far I’m loving high school! Chloe 73
High school is a great experience. I’m really organised now and I finally know where all my classes are. I’ve made many new friends and I love how the school canteen works. (It’s like all you can eat.) Trisha 73
My thoughts about high school have change so much since term 1. I have become more organised and I feel I have learnt so much and really I cannot believe the year has gone so quickly. I enjoy having responsibility and being an independent worker and getting my work done. My group of friends has enlarged even though we have had some fights we have gotten over them and become closer than ever. I believe I have become more mature and I feel more grown up then I was in primary school. Joanne Hunter
My first 3 terms of high school has been okay. I enjoy every subject. Clarissa
Almost the end of term, And our friendships are firm. We have so much fun in class, And at lunch we sit on the grass. The teachers are great, There’s none that we hate. Our time at Alstonville high has been good fun, We hope we will still have our friendships in the long run. High school is way better then primary, Some of the best lessons are in the library. Wednesday is our best day, Because sport is what we play. We look forward to all the great years to come, As school helps us to be what we want to become. By Maddy and Sheridan.
I’m finding high school an awesome experience. It’s way better than it sounded in year six. There are a few things I’m having trouble with such as homework and let us say “people”. Other than that my year seven experience has been excellent. All the teachers are really nice and helpful (unlike in my old school when more than half of the teachers would do nothing when you had troubles.) It’s also easier to make friends here than my old school because everyone is more mature and don’t really care about my problems. In conclusion my experience as a year sevener has been exhilarating and I’m going to miss everybody when I leave next year bye. – Joshua
High school is okay however the classrooms are sometimes messy and they smell really bad!!The teachers are all really nice and very understanding. Mr Fleming has the best way of making us understand what the lesson is about and Mrs O’Brian’s classes are probably the best because she teaches art and art is my favourite subject. Cooking is really fun because we get to eat the food after we prepare it!!! Mrs Ford is the best!!! However, it was sad that Mrs Kitching retired. Caylene.
My time at Alstonville High School so far has been great. I have met almost everyone in year 7 and am friends with most of them. I play footy on the oval almost every day but might stop soon because it is getting too hot. My favourite subjects are usually ones that don’t involve too much work, but if I had to choose one that involved work it would be maths. The work is beginning to get harder but I am still getting along with most my teachers, but everyone has their day’s right? By Bradley Gallop
I am really enjoying term 3 and every day I learn something new or different. At the start of the year I didn’t like many subjects but now I have gotten into them and I understand them I enjoy them a lot more. I have made many new friends since I have been at high school. My favourite subjects would be computers and maths and I have started cooking this term and metal tech and I enjoy them very much. There are many different things that you do at high school and they are all very fun. Also the homework is pretty fun and although some people don’t like it I am really enjoying all the assignments. This year has been a great experience and I am really looking forward to the next five years and cannot wait for the next term to come. By Abbie Wright
Year 7 It is my third term at high school and I am really enjoying it. It is easier than I thought it would be and homework is going fine. Lots of the assignments are really enjoyable and fun. I have enjoyed making new friends and I can’t wait to meet more people next year. I enjoy doing Wednesday sport and I love the variety of choices. I really enjoy maths and wood-tech and I am starting to get the hang of cooking. Sport on the field is pretty fun and exhausting, but it’s good to get fresh air and stretch your legs. I have really started to get the hang of high-school and what it’s got to teach me. It’s a great experience and I’m very lucky to have excellent teachers and friends to support me throughout high-school. By Emma Earley
Year 7 Our time at Alstonville High School so far has been fun and exciting. We are nearly at the end of term 3. Our favourite subjects are PE, Wood tech and Religion. But pretty much all of the subjects have been good. The only thing we don’t like about high school is we get heaps of homework. At this school we have represented our school in many different sports including Rugby Union, League, Soccer and touch footy. We also enjoy going to the library every second Thursday with our English teacher to read, borrow and do assignments on the computer. Most of our teachers are awesome. It’s been very enjoyable.
